FHA Bridal Registry

In October 1996, HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros announced a new program aimed at assisting young couples with the down payment on their first house through a bridal registry account set up a a qualified bank. Since then the bridal registry program has helped thousand of first home buying couples who are getting married to buy a home.

The Bridal Registry Account (BRA), as it is known, allows a couple to open a savings account with participating FHA approved banks so that family and friends can then deposit their cash wedding gifts directly into an interest-bearing account.
